And that's the way it works:

  1. Do you already have the newest Messenger version? The newest is Windows Live Messenger 2008 (8.5.1302.1018) ;)
  2. If not done yet, install Messenger Plus! Live, the best extension library for Windows Live Messenger.
  3. Now download the script WLMStatus, it will be imported in Messenger.
  4. Done! Display your current status by inserting the image address http://wlmstatus.net/status/your_email@provider.com.png as image into your home page or by using it as your signature in forums etc.
  5. You will find more styles for the status image at http://wlmstatus.net/status/your_email@provider.com-1.png, where you can replace the 1 by any numbers.
  6. The language used for the texts (e.g. “Busy” etc.) is controled by the domain name of the website in which the image is inserted. When it's a .de domain, German texts will be used, otherwise English ones :)
  7. But you can also define the language by inserting after the number, but before the .png a hyphen and the language shortcut.
    Examples:
your_email@provider.com-de.png (Standard style, but always German)
    your_email@provider.com-4-fr.png (Style 4, always French)
